Yamaha Music Education System

Official Yamaha courses, birth to teen.

Our school is part of the Yamaha Music Education System — a curriculum developed over 60+ years and taught at Yamaha schools around the world.

Ages 3 – 4

Music Wonderland

An introduction to music in a positive, enjoyable atmosphere. Together with their parents, children experience singing, introductory keyboard activities, movement, and listening. Music Wonderland lays the foundation for a lifetime of enjoyable music making and leads into the Primary Course.

Ages 3 – 5

Primary Course

Yamaha's new early-childhood program, replacing the Junior Music Course. Through piano playing, singing, rhythm and listening activities, children nurture the ability to enjoy music freely during the most expressive years of their lives. Primary 1 begins with group lessons; Primary 2–3 combines group lessons with a monthly private lesson, plus workbooks and a dedicated video library for home practice.

Ages 6 – 8

Young Musicians Course

A great way for children to begin a lifetime of music. The three-year curriculum develops musicianship and keyboard playing skills with materials written specifically for beginners of this age — including singing, ear training, repertoire, ensemble playing, keyboard harmony and arranging.

Ages 8 – 10

Jr. Ensemble Course

A two-year program designed to teach beginning students how to play and enjoy a wide variety of piano styles. Basic musicianship skills — including a strong sense of rhythm and pitch — are developed through solfège singing and keyboard ensembles.

Teens, adults & seniors

Music Friends Course

The fun way to learn more about today's electronic keyboards. This two-year beginner program covers technique, repertoire and the creative possibilities of the modern keyboard.
